DayZ Badlands tank: Bikes, Fuel, and Facts
No armored DayZ Badlands tank is confirmed. Update 1.30 adds Jana and Enduro bikes; official notes cover fuel-tank wear, not heavy armor.
Why the armor search misleads survivors
Survivors searching for a DayZ Badlands tank usually want a rolling gun platform. That search matters right now because Update 1.30 launched with the Badlands expansion and dropped new vehicles into a freshly wiped game. A DayZ Badlands tank, in the posts the DayZ team has actually published, points to a motorbike fuel tank, not a crewed armored vehicle.

The October 15, 2026 launch post says the expansion is out and that Update 1.30 brings motorbikes into the base game, plus select firearms, reworked skins, and quality-of-life changes. It also calls the update a fresh start and a full wipe on every platform. Plan as if earlier stashes and garages did not carry over. Nothing in that launch text, and nothing in the Week 84 vehicle blog, lists an armored hull you can drive.
Desert scenery and older military props make a heavy vehicle feel plausible. Use the published record as a filter. If a claim needs a spawn town, a shell type, or a turret speed, it is not in the official material below.
What Update 1.30 actually put on the road
Nasdara is the Badlands map, and the team has called it the largest map they have built. Motorbikes were not in the original plan. They were added as a third way to move, between walking and cars, because crossing that much ground on foot changes the whole trip. The Week 84 DayZ Badlands dev blog on motorbikes is the design record. The Badlands launch announcement is the note that says those rides shipped.
Bikes are not locked to Nasdara. The dev blog says they also appear on the other maps, in lower numbers, so the team can see how survivors use them. Before launch, Experimental Update 1.30 was set to open Many Bikes servers for early tests. The launch post does not say those test servers are still the way to play. As of October 16, 2026, treat live 1.30 as the current home for the bikes, and treat the experimental label as background from the design blog.
Two machines fill the slot. The Jana is a moped inspired by the Czechoslovak Jawa 50/05, a small rural bike that was common in the late 1960s. The Enduro is a dirt bike inspired by the rare Jawa 500 682 Bitrak. Both use a two-wheel simulation with the rider leaning through turns, which cars in DayZ have not done. The car networking upgrade from Update 1.28 is described as essential groundwork. Animation systems were upgraded so the handlebars turn, and the front light is meant to follow the steering.
| Confirmed in official posts | Not established by these sources |
|---|---|
| Jana moped and Enduro dirt bike | A drivable armored vehicle |
| Bikes on Nasdara and, less often, other maps | Spawn towns, routes, or drop rates |
| Rough top speeds near 70 km/h and 130 km/h | Fuel capacity in liters |
| Blowtorch repairs, swappable tires, no separate battery | Armor, cannon stats, or a crew |
| No bike inventory and no passenger seat | Shell types or a parking spot for heavy armor |
| Full wipe with Update 1.30 on all platforms | Any promise that pre-wipe vehicles return |
The right-hand column is the whole DayZ Badlands tank question in one glance. Search traffic wants a vehicle there. The published record only fills the left.
Jana and Enduro, side by side
The Jana is the compact option. It comes in three fixed colors: blue, red, and yellow. Panels are not mixed on this bike. Artists layered rust, dust, dirt, and grime, with extra fuel and oil stains around the tank and engine, so it looks used and long neglected. Those stains are a texture choice. They are not a published leak rate or a fuel gauge.
The model work supports that worn look. References locked the Jawa-like silhouette, the outside frame, and how the body panels meet. Smooth panels were built with a subdivision workflow, with metal and wheels modeled as hard surfaces and the big double seat sculpted separately. A lower-poly version then kept the shape while cutting the triangle count. The stains sit on top of that cleanup so the moped fits DayZ instead of a showroom.
The Enduro is the fast off-road option. Base colors are red, yellow, green, and blue, and some parts come off so you can mix them. That mix is cosmetic. The in-game bike uses a 362cc single-cylinder two-stroke, long-travel suspension, and 270 mm all-terrain tires. The real Bitrak can run two spark plugs because fouling is common. The game uses one. It also skips radiator fluid and a battery. Gears are long so it can cross the map, and extra gauges help at night. Lights are optional.
| Spec | Jana moped | Enduro dirt bike |
|---|---|---|
| Real-world inspiration | Jawa 50/05 | Jawa 500 682 Bitrak |
| Role | Light, shorter hops | Fast cross-country travel |
| Stated top speed | About 70 km/h | About 130 km/h |
| Colors | Blue, red, yellow, fixed | Red, yellow, green, blue; cosmetic parts can be mixed |
| Engine note | Modest; displacement not stated here | 362cc single-cylinder two-stroke |
| Tires | Replaceable; size not stated here | Replaceable; 270 mm all-terrain |
| Battery | No separate battery | No battery |
| Radiator fluid | Not stated in the shared notes | Not required |
| Cargo and passengers | None | None |
| Named repair tool | Blowtorch | Blowtorch |
Speed is the main tradeoff. The team says the moped should reach about 70 km/h and the dirt bike about 130 km/h. Those are targets, not a promise on sand, rocks, or a damaged plug. Hard running can hurt the spark plug. The blog says the balance was tuned so careful riders should be fine. That is a warning, not a challenge. There is no air control. Nasdara has ramps for small jumps, and a jump you cannot steer in the air is a crash you already accepted.
Neither bike is a loot truck. The Enduro notes are direct: the pace required no cargo, no passenger, and nowhere to hang a bag. The frame is steel tube with a few fiberglass shells. If you need a second survivor or a stack of supplies, you walk, or you assemble a car after the wipe. The bikes only move one person.
Lean is part of the turn, not a cosmetic wobble, and the headlight follows the bars. That matters on Nasdara after dark more than any rumor about plating. Enduro audio was recorded from a real example of that rare race bike, including engine speeds, the exhaust note, small mechanical sounds, and new tire recordings. The noise is there to sell the machine. These posts do not publish how far other players can hear it.
Fuel tanks, spark plugs, and field repairs
The only tank the vehicle notes describe is a fuel tank. On the Jana, the art notes put fuel and oil staining around that tank and the engine. Keeping a DayZ Badlands tank discussion useful means staying on that part. There is no chart for liters, burn time, or which container fills it. A precise number would be fiction.
What you can plan is the service list the team did publish.
| Job | What the dev blog says | Habit that follows |
|---|---|---|
| Spark plug | Hard use can damage it; the Enduro uses one plug, not the real bike's two | Back off after a long pull at top speed |
| Battery | Neither bike has a separate car-style battery | Do not search for a battery just to roll one |
| Radiator fluid | The Enduro does not need it | Do not stall an Enduro rebuild waiting on coolant |
| Tires | Replaceable on both | A bad tire is a parts problem, not a lost frame |
| Repairs | Blowtorch | Carry one if you expect to keep the bike after a crash |
| Storage | No inventory on either bike | Stash loot first; you cannot strap it on |
| Seats | One character | Solo only; a partner walks, uses a car, or stays |
| Jumps | No air control; small ramps exist on Nasdara | Take short jumps or skip them |
A few choices follow from that list.
- Ride the Jana when the hop is shorter and you do not need to sprint Nasdara. About 70 km/h still beats walking.
- Ride the Enduro when distance is the threat. About 130 km/h is the published ceiling, tied to the spark-plug warning.
- Do not plan a duo escape. There is no passenger seat.
- Do not plan a loot run that depends on bike storage. There is none.
- Skip the car-battery step. Its absence is intentional.
- Repair with a blowtorch. A spare tire still has to move on foot or in a car, because the bike cannot haul it.
- At night, use the steering-linked front light. On the Enduro, lights are optional, so a dark ride is possible.
- Leave tricks to the small Nasdara ramps. With no air control, a big jump cannot be corrected.
Grime on the Jana is not the same as a ruined plug or a bare rim. The texture is baked in so the moped looks decades old. Read the damage you can actually repair.
Next to cars, the bikes drop several systems. No separate battery on either. No radiator fluid on the Enduro. No trunk. You assemble them with a shorter shopping list, then lose them the moment you must move a barrel, a tent, or a friend. The team states that compromise so the top speed can stay high.
Choosing a ride after the wipe
The wipe is the decision in front of you. Every platform starts clean, per the launch post. The first vehicle goal is a single-seat bike you can assemble, not a hull these notes never list.
At the stated figures, the Enduro ceiling is a bit under double the Jana (130 versus 70). On a huge map, that gap is a daylight crossing versus a trip that camps overnight. It is also a stressed plug versus a plug you spared. Short, rocky, or fight-heavy routes favor the smaller moped. Open desert, traveled alone, is why the Enduro exists.
Cars remain the cargo answer. The blog places bikes between cars and walking, and it calls the Jana a lighter alternative to cars survivors already know. After a full wipe, "already know" means "can find again," not "still own." Build the car when the load is bigger than your hands.
Launch clothing is not vehicle armor. Dust goggles, a face wrap, light clothes, and desert camouflage are what the team tells you to adapt with. Territorial dogs and infected still meet you at the dismount. You cannot fire from a passenger seat that does not exist, and you cannot trunk a rifle the bike cannot store.
| If your goal is... | Use this | Why the sources support it |
|---|---|---|
| Cross Nasdara quickly, alone | Enduro | Highest stated speed, off-road suspension, one seat anyway |
| Make a shorter, calmer trip | Jana | Lower stated speed, small moped layout |
| Move a friend or a pile of gear | Car or walking | Bikes have no cargo and no second seat |
| Fix the bike after a crash | Blowtorch and a replacement tire | Both are named; the bike cannot carry the tire |
| Roll something with a cannon | Nothing confirmed | No DayZ Badlands tank is documented in these posts |
Check the machine before you trust it. A missing tire, a hurt plug, or an unsteerable jump ends the trip faster than walking would have. Treat the published top speeds as ceilings, not cruise settings.
Wishlist wording in the older blog is outdated on one point: Badlands is out. The October 15 post says so. The bike breakdown in that earlier blog is still the best official account of how the Jana and Enduro were built and what they cannot carry. Read the two together. Launch tells you the bikes are in and the servers wiped. Week 84 tells you the limits.
Community reports versus the official record
A creator video about rebuilding the Badlands map argues that the expansion hides a much larger construction system. Treat that as community reporting, not as a patch note.
The creator believes many buildings could break in sections and be rebuilt, that ruined teaser versions imply modular health, and that sandstorms might wear structures down. The video also argues that water will be scarce, that rivers may be dry, and that rebuilt wells could become a major drink source. Those are inferences drawn from teasers, a store page, and an interview. The complete official launch announcement does confirm nearly 5,000 rebuildable structures, including wells and irrigation tunnels. It does not establish the video’s damage values, sandstorm destruction, or decay parameters.
The same video does not document a working tank. Where it mentions heavy weapons, it is guessing how a wall might fail if someone shot it. That is speculation about buildings. It is not a manual for armor, and it is not evidence that a DayZ Badlands tank exists as a vehicle.
| Topic | Official bike blog and launch post | Community video |
|---|---|---|
| Motorbikes shipped with 1.30 | Stated | Not the subject |
| Fuel tank on the Jana | Named in the texture notes | Not the subject |
| Drivable armored vehicle | Not stated | Not shown as confirmed |
| Rebuildable structures, wells and irrigation tunnels | Confirmed in the complete launch announcement | Further destruction mechanics remain the creator’s theory |
| Sandstorms leveling buildings | Not stated | Creator's theory |
| Water limited exclusively to fountains and rebuilt wells | Exclusivity not established | Creator's reading of drought and well talk |
| Where any vehicle spawns | Not stated | Not a spawn guide |
Rebuilding wells and irrigation tunnels is part of the official launch description. That confirmation does not establish structural health values, sandstorm damage, or decay rules. Do not skip spark plugs and tires because a rumor said the real prize is armor.
The launch pitch is more concrete. New face wraps, dust goggles, light clothing, and desert camouflage sit next to firearms ranging from the Lee-Enfield to modern SCR models. Food is local, or you hunt. Wildlife called out in that post includes mouflons, desert monitors, territorial dogs, and the infected. The team treats loot as what keeps you alive. None of that loot is described as a tank.
Split your trust this way:
- Use the dev blog for speed targets, seat count, the blowtorch, and the missing car parts.
- Use the launch post for the wipe, bikes inside 1.30, and the new gear and animals.
- Keep rebuild-the-map talk labeled as player experience until a later post spells out health states, tools, and timers.
- Skip any guide that prints fuel liters, shell types, or parking coordinates. Those figures are not in this material.
Server hosts who liked the video's idea of tunable building decay should wait too. The creator floats that as a wish for a system the vehicle posts do not ship. Bike plugs and tires already sit inside normal vehicle logic. Town-wide health bars do not, at least not in these sources.
FAQ
Is there a drivable DayZ Badlands tank?
No official source in this set says you can find, fuel, or crew an armored tank. The tank that is actually described is the Jana fuel tank, named while artists explain rust, dirt, and oil stains. The new vehicles are motorbikes.
Which bike is faster, the Jana or the Enduro?
The dev blog's targets are about 70 km/h for the Jana and about 130 km/h for the Enduro. The faster bike is the one with the 362cc two-stroke, long-travel suspension, and the hard-riding spark-plug warning. Neither speed includes cargo, because neither bike has storage.
Do the new bikes work only on the Badlands map?
No. Nasdara is why they were added, but the same blog says bikes appear on the other maps in smaller numbers. Update 1.30 also brings motorbikes to the base game. Exact counts are not published here, so density is whatever you find after the wipe.
Can two players ride, or can I hide loot in the fuel tank?
No. Both bikes carry one character and have no inventory. The Enduro notes add that there is nowhere to hang bags. The fuel tank is a part of the machine, not a backpack, and these posts never turn it into storage or a weapon.
